Welcome to the J.S. Flipper Library!

We would like to welcome you all to Access Freely, here at the J.S. Flipper Library. Your library requires each patron from all walks of life, to register for their very own patron barcode. The patron must be a registered Allen University student, faculty or staff to use the library's services. Once registered, the patron will have unlimited access to the wealth of materials, knowledge, and sources made available at their fingertips.

Now, let’s get started with registering our studious students!!!

Library of Congress Classification System

The J.S. Flipper Library, like many academic libraries, uses the Library of Congress Classification system to assign call numbers. This system uses letters and numbers to sort books into subject areas, but each title does have its own unique call number. This outline of the Library of Congress Classification can be used to determine where titles in a general subject area may be found in our library. For more information about the Library of Congress Classification system, how to find materials in the J.S. Flipper Library, and other research help, please ask a librarian the next time you make a visit. A more detailed version of the LC Classification is available at the Library of Congress Webpage,

E-Books are becoming more and more popular.  Many different companies provide access to these digital books and it can be confusing to figure out the best one for you.  It can also be difficult for some to get E-Books to work with their chosen device.  The tab on E-Books is structured to help you the consumer decide if E-Books are right for you and how to get the best out of this technology.

Libraries are more than information workhouses. Libraries are a place were the community can gather, learn, and interact. Makerspaces are the next step in that progression. Makerspaces allow users to create, explore, and achieve many different things, all while gathering at their local library. A makerspace is composed of many different resources, from the technical to the creative. These resources allow users to interact with each other, while utilizing and learning skills. Ask about our makerspace and ways you can incorporate, connect, and share your learning knowledge today!
